Rebello, who was appointed BFS CISO in April 2022, has been with Macquarie Group in several security roles for about eight years.

Endeavour Group, which owns retailers like Dan Murphy’s and BWS, said it had secured Rebello’s services, and that he will report into group CIO Claire Smith.

“Steven’s addition to the technology leadership team comes at an important time as we progress through the multi-year One Endeavour Transformation program, reinforcing the company’s commitment to cyber security and innovation,” Smith said in a statement.

Rebello was appointed “after an extensive market search”, with his “over 20 years of experience in cyber security in banking and insurance” viewed favourably in the selection process.

He also “led the security stream on Macquarie Bank’s multi-year digital transformation program”.

Rebello said in a statement that he looked forward to “ensuring that the organisation’s security posture remains robust through the [One Endeavour Transformation] program and beyond.”

iTnews understands that Rebello's last day at Macquarie Group is Friday May 24.

It was not clear whether an acting appointment had been made or if a permanent replacement had been found.
